As healthy foods go, it’s hard to beat dairy for taste and convenience. Dairy is a rich source of protein, vitamins and minerals, including calcium, which is needed for the maintenance of normal bones. And you’ll be happy to know that it’s all natural.
How many servings?
The Department of Health’s Food Pyramid recommends 3 servings from the ‘milk, yogurt and cheese’ food group each day as part of a healthy, balanced diet. Between the ages of 9-18 years, 5 servings per day are recommended. Low-fat varieties are encouraged, and examples of one serving include 200ml of milk, 125g of yogurt or 25g of hard cheese.
