About the Campaign
The National Dairy Council is seeking a young performer to feature in a major advertising campaign celebrating Irish dairy, launching this autumn. The campaign will be broadcast across television, streaming platforms, radio, digital and social media, as well as outdoor advertising nationwide.
The Role
We are casting the role of Seání, a confident and curious boy aged 7–12 years who has grown up on a dairy farm and has a genuine enthusiasm for farming life.
Previous acting experience is not required. We are looking for children who are naturally engaging, confident and comfortable being themselves on camera. Children with a connection to dairy farming are particularly encouraged to apply. A parent or guardian must accompany the child to all casting and production dates.
Key Dates
Applicants must be available to attend the following dates in Dublin:
- 28 July – Casting Recall
- 6 August – Rehearsal
- 11 August – Wardrobe Fitting
- 14 August – Full-Day Shoot
Audition Guidelines
Auditions should be filmed on a mobile phone using the rear camera in landscape orientation. Before you begin, wipe the camera lens and position the phone at eye level. If you have a tripod, feel free to use it; otherwise, simply rest your phone on a stable surface. Avoid filming from above or below.
Film against a plain background using a head-and-shoulders shot, ensuring your child can be seen and heard clearly throughout.
Above all, children should relax and be themselves. The casting director is looking for an authentic personality rather than a polished performance. The audition should feel natural and conversational, as though your child is chatting with a friend.
How to Apply
The audition video should begin with a short introduction (approximately 1–2 minutes) in which the child introduces themselves by sharing their name, age, and where they live.
They should talk about what they enjoy doing in their spare time, what they love about life on the farm, how they help out, their favourite animal or piece of farm machinery, and finish with a funny or memorable story from the farm. The video should then include a short role-play in which the child imagines speaking to someone from the city, explaining why their dad says Irish cows are so lucky and why their milk is so good.
The script does not need to be followed word for word; a natural and conversational performance is encouraged. For example: “My dad says Irish cows are really lucky. They could have ended up in a field anywhere in the world, but these lads are here enjoying all this delicious, fresh, green grass. And I get to drink the milk they made. Lucky them… and lucky me!”
