The National Dairy Council (NDC) champions the role of quality, pasture-based dairy and its nutrition benefits in supporting healthier and more active living. It is a private, farmer-funded marketing agency which works to promote and protect Ireland’s internationally-renowned dairy reputation. It aims to ensure that Irish dairy is recognised and trusted as an important component of a healthy sustainable diet, which is central to Ireland’s culture and economy.
Role and Responsibilities:
The National Dairy Council’s nutrition portfolio is driven by health promotion. There is a strong emphasis on evidence-based, responsible communications that drive NDC marketing campaigns.
This is a full time role and will be based at the NDC office in Sandyford, Dublin. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Nutritionist. Key accountabilities include:
- The monitoring and evaluation of scientific research in relation to dairy, nutrition & health
- Dissemination of new research to make it accessible and relevant to health professionals and consumers
- Working with health and sports professional partners on events and webinars
- Health promotion activity to consumers via events and literature
- Nutrition education support for school initiatives
- Media engagement through print articles, radio interview, TV and digital
- Collaboration with the Marketing and Communications team on nutrition aspects of creative advertising, promotion, and social media, ensuring that all outputs are scientifically valid and compliant with EU Nutrition & Health Claim legislation (Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006).
Skills and experience needed:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team, while also work independently
- Strong organisational and event management skills
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills
Essential requirements:
- Degree in human nutrition, nutrition science or dietetics
- At least 3 years professional experience working in health promotion
- Registered nutritionist (AFN), registered dietitian (CORU), or eligibility for registration
- Experience in writing both scientific and consumer focused literature
- Ability to translate key scientific concepts for communications activity
Desirable requirements:
- Understanding of EU Nutrition & Health Claims legislation
- Knowledge of dairy nutrition and sustainable food systems
- An energetic and open minded individual
- An interest in sports nutrition
Candidates must have eligibility to live and work in Ireland.
