The National Dairy Council (NDC) is a farmer-funded representative body that advocates for dairy as part of an increasingly sustainably produced food system; as a key component in a healthy balanced diet; and as a sector, indispensable to Ireland’s social and economic wellbeing.
The NDC is currently structured across three pillars: Marketing, Communications & Farm Advocacy; Schools; and Nutrition.
Candidate Profile
The National Dairy Council seeks an experienced financial controller, detail-orientated with strong organisational and time management skills. The FC must be able to manage multiple projects in a busy office, balancing priorities and meeting deadlines, with a very high level of accuracy. The successful candidate will be diligent, operating to the highest standards of professional integrity. Her or she will be an excellent communicator with strong presentation skills and the ability to distil complex financial topics for relevant audiences.
The Financial Controller reports to the CEO. This role is office based, out of NDC’s Sandyford office.
Responsibilities
- Managing the day-to-day company finances, the preparation of monthly management accounts and ensuring internal controls are adhered to within the organisation.
- Maintaining purchases, sales, banking and nominal ledgers.
- Preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Preparation of monthly payroll.
- Ensuring the company is tax compliant and all returns are submitted accurately and on time.
- Good knowledge of VAT compliance requirements and VAT legislation.
- Creation of ad-hoc reports for various business needs – including financial performance and budgeting.
- Preparation of statutory financial statements suitable for audit purposes.
- Liaison with external Auditors and Tax advisors.
- Preparation of periodic financial reports and presentation to Board of Directors.
- Ensuring full CRO and RBO compliance.
- Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance financial efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience
- A qualified accountant with 3-5 years post qualification experience in a similar role.
- Qualifications must be Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA/ FCA); Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
