The National Dairy Council is delighted to announce Irish rugby player Garry Ringrose as an ambassador for 2023. Garry will be announcing his role today at Moorepark, a major Dairy Industry event held by Teagasc in their headquarters in Fermoy which takes place every two years. 10,000 of Ireland’s 17,500 dairy farmers are expected to attend.

Manchester City’s Norwegian striker Erling Haaland recently made headlines revealing to his 32.8m Instagram followers that the source of his record-breaking prowess on the pitch was Milk! Dairy has long been a trusted, as a reliable source of nutrition, not only for consumers, but for high performing athletes. At a time where Irish athletes are reaching new heights on the global stage, we want to explore the important contribution of Ireland’s world-class dairy produce in supporting sport stars to make an impact.

Garry said,

“I am delighted to be working with the NDC as an ambassador and to promote the significant benefits of Milk – “Nature’s sports drink”. As an athlete I know the hard work, dedication, and commitment that it takes to be on top of your game and what it takes to succeed! Eating well is essential and adapting your nutritional intake to your sport is a necessity. In-season or out of season, as well as pre-, during and post-performance, all influence our nutritional decisions.”

There are lots of parallels that can be drawn between athletes and farmers. It starts with the right ingredients, hard work, effort, and passion 365 days a year to deliver a world class food product. In the same way that producing world class dairy mirrors the processes of elite athletes. It begins from the ground up, from good foundations. Like our athletes, our farmers stay grounded while performing on the world stage of top food production.

Garry will be working with NDC on a number of activities running up to the World Cup including a content series to be filmed on a dairy farm which will be available on NDC’s channels.
